29 Jun 04/YEREVAN

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan today expressed his hope that Armenia and Turkey would soon achieve an improvement in relations. The Turkish prime minister said this in Istanbul today, replying to a Mediamax news agency.

Erdogan said that he had discussed establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus at meetings with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Foreign Minister Vardan Oskanyan, which took place in Istanbul on 28 June with the participation of Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul.

Replying to a question from the Mediamax special correspondent, Erdogan said that it was important to continue tripartite meetings between Armenian, Turkish and Azerbaijani representatives. The Turkish prime minister expressed his confidence that “these meetings will help us resolve problems in such a way where there will be no victors and losers”.
