“Most Of Armenian Diaspora in France Are Not Insistent About The French Resolution”Wednesday, 21 December

Turkish-Armenian Business Development Council’s Co-chairman Kaan Soyak said that most of Armenian diaspora in France were not insistent about the French resolution.

They were dragged into this game by French government, Soyak told AA regarding the French resolution criminalizing the rejection of Armenian allegations pertaining to the incidents of 1915 which will be voted on December 22 at French Parliament.

Soyak said that diaspora and Armenian government learned about the resolution almost at the same time with Turkey.

He noted that second large Armenian diaspora in the world, with 500,000 population, was living in France. Soyak said that French President Nicolas Sarkozy was trying to use 1915 incidents as a tool prior to the presidential election in April 2012.

Soyak said that Sarkozy started to run after ethnical votes when he saw he did not have much chance for being president again.

He also said that 1915 incidents did not have any priority in Armenian agenda, adding that the priority for Armenia was to fix relations with Turkey.

Soyak noted that third countries should be prevented using 1915 incidents as an election tool in their domestic politics.
