Russian Foreign Ministry described as “interesting” the invitation to visit Yerevan, sent to the Turkish President by his Armenian counterpart-23.07.08

Russia is for the soon normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations, which could contribute to consolidation of stability in the whole Transcaucasia region, Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry told Mediamax today.

“In this context, we give positive assessment to any steps of Yerevan and Ankara on developing friendly-neighborly relations, political dialogue of the two countries’ leaders. From this point of view, we consider interesting the invitation of the Armenian President Serzh Sarkisian sent to the Turkish President Abdullah Gul to be present in September of 2008 in Yerevan for the qualifying match of the World Football Cup between the Armenian and Turkish national teams”, Mediamax was told in the Russian Foreign Ministry.
