| Armenian Deputy FM: It is Turkey that violates the Treaty of Kars
-23.06.06
Yerevan, June 23. /Mediamax/. Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Arman
Kirakossian said that “Turkey violates the Treaty of Kars.”
“Turkey declares that it’s needless to speak about the establishment of
diplomatic relations with Armenia until the latter recognizes Turkey’s
territorial integrity. Meanwhile, the thing is that whether we want or
not, whether we accept the agreements of 1921 or not, the Treaty of Kars
is the only document establishing a border regime between the two
countries,” said Arman Kirakossian in the interview published in the
Yerevan “Hayots Ashkhar” newspaper.
Arman Kirakossian said that “irrespective of the fact whether we like it
or not this document fixes the Armenian-Turkish border,” Mediamax
reports.
“The Treaty remains in force until we or the Turkish side denounce it
[in accord with the Article N7 of the Treaty the sides are obliged to
provide the openness of the border and free transport communication]. So
in this case, it is Turkey that violates the Treaty,” the Armenian
official stated. |
