| The string quartet of Turkey’s presidential ‘Ankara’ symphonic ensemble was recently in Yerevan to give a concert at Yerevan Chamber Music House. The concert of a Turkish musical ensemble was organized by the Turkish-Armenian Business Development Committee (TABDC).Speaking to Armenpress, Kaan Soyak, a co-chairman of the TABDC described the concert as “unprecedented”, as no cultural contacts between the two countries on such a level have ever taken place before. Soyak said Khosrov Harutunian, the chairman of a state governmental commission, handling organization of events and festivities, marking 17 centuries of Christianity in Armenia, was very much helpful. The quartet’s members also said the visit to Armenia changed their ideas about the neighboring country and its people.
Mr. Soyak said invitations had been sent to representatives of all foreign diplomatic missions in Armenia, but only Bulgaria’s charge d’affaires was present. Turkish musicians also visited Echmiadzin, the headquarters of the Armenian church and talked to a bishop there. |
