“South Caucasus May Become A Bridge Between Russia And Turkey,” Dr.Burcu Gultekin Says

NATO Manfred Worner 2004-2005 Fellow, Europe Coordinator of the Turkish Armenian Business Development Council (TABDC), Burcu Gultekin, said this today at the international seminar “Between the Caspian and Black seas: new challenges and possibilities for the South Caucasus,” Mediamax reports.

According to her, the reconciliation between Turkey and Russia will positively affect the whole region. Gultekin noted that the Turkish-Caucasian border is very important as it will allow the South Caucasus to acquire central position. According to her, this potential should be used taking into consideration the fact that all three South Caucasus countries have achieved much in last 4 years.

Speaking about the prospects of opening the Turkish-Armenian border, Gultekin said that this will, first of all, twice increase the goods turnover between two countries, as well as positively influence the development of Turkey’s regions which have no outlet to the sea.
